Thanks Dr. K!

First of all, I would just like to thank Dr. K for getting all this started! I don't know about everyone else, but we are having so much fun talking to people in the community about what our class is doing. It feels so good to give back and make a difference, if only a small one, in this community. While we were doing research for our project, we found some startling statistics about domestice violence. This is not something that only affects one particular race or class of people. This is something that plagues everyone, everywhere.

We hope that our self defense class will empower women and give them a few techniques to defend themselves against attacks. I don't know about you, but I will feel a lot safer Christmas shopping alone after this class.

I was able to participate in some other projects as well, and I loved it. I donated some dresses to the Prom Night project and today I was able to help the group doing a PSA by giving them a sound bite about what makes me beautiful. It took me a minute to find an answer to that question because on a regular basis I don't consider myself beautiful. I thought for a moment about the qualities I like best about myself - intelligence, speaking my mind, loving who I am, and making a difference in the world - and realized that maybe I am beautiful even when I don't feel like I am. What a great project! I can't wait to see the finished product.

I agree with Bridget. I want to say thanks to Dr. K as well. This has been a wonderful time of learning and communicating with my fellow classmates while, at the same time, being active in the community.
